Travel & Stay
We know Nantucket isn’t the easiest place to get to, and we so appreciate you making the trip. See below for our recommended ways to getting to the island, and where to stay once you arrive.
Travel
To get to Nantucket, you can either fly into Nantucket Memorial Airport (ACK) or take the ferry from Hyannis, Massachusetts – a 90-minute drive from Boston.
By Air
You can fly into Nantucket on a number of large domestic or smaller regional airlines. Flying is the fastest way to reach the island, and we recommend booking flights far in advance to avoid higher prices.
Cape Air provides year-round service from Boston, MA (BOS) and New York City (JFK).
JetBlue provides seasonal service from Boston, MA (BOS), Washington-National (DCA), and New York City (JFK, LGA and EWR).
Delta provides seasonal service from New York City (JFK and LGA).
United provides seasonal service from Newark (EWR) and Washington-Dulles (IAD).
American provides seasonal service from Washington-National (DCA), Charlotte (CLT), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), and Philadelphia (PHL).
By Sea
There are two ferry companies departing from Hyannis – Hy-Line Cruises and the Steamship Authority. Both operate regularly and offer fast (1-hour) and slow (2 hours and 15 minutes) ferries. If you’d like to bring your car on island, ferry car reservations are available through Steamship Authority.
Lodging
We recommend booking lodging as early as possible, as houses and hotels book up many months in advance. If you’d like to stay within walking distance to wedding activities, we suggest staying close to town.
Below are a handful of options to use as a starting point, but there are many hotels and B&Bs across the island that would work well.
Getting Around
You can certainly navigate Nantucket without a car, particularly if you’re staying in town. If you would like to rent one, we recommend the following companies:
Both Uber and Lyft are available, but can be busy during peak wedding weekends. Taxis can be more reliable, and you can find a full list of taxi companies here. There’s also a taxi stand on the corner of Main Street and South Water street in the center of town.
Nantucket also offers the WAVE, a public shuttle that transports people around the island. You can find more information and schedules here.
